Progress Update

August 1, 2014

It was Tricia's birthday today and I was able to speak to her on the satphone at our son's home during a family gathering to celebrate the day (not that either of us really celebrate birthday's anymore other than a minutes silence for the passing of another year!)

We left our safe anchorage in Ryan's Bay and motored out to sea in thick fog, no wind and glass calm seas initially with a good following current to be replaced by a brutal 3kt current against us that slowed progress dramatically. We were also surprised by how few icebergs there were as we headed towards Baffin Island and the Davis Strait. As I type this we have travelled 160nm in a little over 24 hours, with another 220nm to go before we reach our planned anchorage just south of Cape Dyer on the Cumberland Peninsula.
