Chuckchi Sea

Once we rounded Point Barrow we left the Beaufort Sea and entered the Chuckchi Sea and have been sailing slowly south in light winds despite the daily forecast predicting 20 to 30 kts from the NE. Although this is slowing our progress it is enabling us to catch up on some sleep with the boat far more stable in the reduced seas. Despite sailing over 700miles of Alaskan coastline we have yet to actually see Alaska, either fog or low cloud have kept the land blanketed from us.

The light following winds made for very slow progress and died out altogether around 7.00pm forcing us to turn on the engine for the first time in some days.
