With Novara left in the care of Marisol and Jeremy in La Libertad, Ecuador the last few months have been busy for Trish and I with an extended road trip to the UK visiting Family and Friends and keeping a promise to sail with Bill and Jo on Visions of Johanna, their Chuck Paine designed monohull. This promise was made after convincing them to bring Visions over to Britain and Ireland and specifically to cruise the Western Isles of Scotland when we would join them for a couple of weeks.
This is one of the most spectacular cruising grounds in the world but like the rest of time spent in Scotland you need decent weather! Sadly we were a little unlucky with only a couple of days out of the 2 weeks when the sun shone through and visibility was good. The rest of the time Bill and Jo had to be content with my explanations of what could be seen “if only the weather was ok”
We did get to take the train from Crianlarich to Mallaig on one of the few good days and was rewarded with some spectacular views as we crossed Rannoch Moor and on to Fort William.
We also took the opportunity to meet up with Bob Shepton who lives in the area to discuss the plans for our trip to South Georgia next year.
