Return to Camden, Maine

On the 10th June Novara completed her 32,950nm passage from Camden in Maine around the Americas with side trips to Easter Island, The Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica and back to Camden, Maine taking a little under 5 years. We were welcomed by a small flotilla of friends who came out to meet us as we glided gently in under full sail in a light breeze.

It was good to return to a place with such fond memories and following a presentation I gave at the Camden Yacht Club entitled "High Latitude Adventures" many new friends were made.

We had made a fast passage with the benefit of the Gulf Stream, stopping off in Beaufort NC to avoid strong headwinds around Cape Hatteras, then a short detour to visit the Statue of Liberty and sail down the East River past Manhattan before carrying on inside Long Island to visit friends in Martha's Vineyard.
