It has not been an easy decision but after 5 years of high latitude adventures it is time to strike a better balance and one that includes my wife, kids and grand-kids.
Novara is a truly outstanding, serious blue water cruiser that has more than lived up to our expectations. Built as a Research Vessel for her first owner we have used her as an Ice Breaker, forcing our way through 7/10ths ice in the North West Passage and Antarctica. As a Floating Base Camp for our mountaineering expeditions, as a shallow draft creek crawler for our exploration of the rivers of South America and as a dive platform utilising her built in compressor, tanks and dive equipment. In the last 12 months she has also introduced our young grandchildren to life above and below the waves in the warm waters of the Caribbean.
With over 36,000 nm now covered we have come to fully appreciate her unique Aero Rig system. Strong, simple and efficient the ease of handling has proved invaluable in the extreme conditions we have encountered during our travels. With her design pedigree it should be expected that she is an excellent sea keeping vessel and she has proven herself in hurricane force winds and mountainous seas.
It will be a very sad day when we hand her over to her new owner but she has enabled us to realise our ambitions and objectives we set for ourselves and so it is now time to move on to our next adventures.
